HYPOXIA VOLUME 1
From the people that brought you Gulliver’s Travels Improv and The Magical Monarch, metaesquema is proud to now release HYPOXIA Volume One, a work that has been over a year in the making.
PREFACE
HYPOXIA is a condition in which the body no longer has enough oxygen to maintain homeostasis. Volume one of HYPOXIA originally intended to capture the essence of this state through the voice of one fractured character, Professor Scuddlebutt. An anonymous group of writers submitted letters across timelines and circumstances that were meant for public release at the moment the Professor, their character, succumbed to a lack of oxygen.
The creative process of compiling and collectively editing the letters resulted in both literary and spiritual warfare between the writers. HYPOXIA was thus transformed into a thought experiment. Does anonymity provide protection from retribution? Is anonymity possible? Have we been conditioned to self-censor or censor others, even when one’s name is not on the line?
A constellation of personal priorities, parapolitical positions, predisposed pathologies, and predestined contradictions has colored HYPOXIA. Yet, the original goal was still met with this work. It will certainly remove all the oxygen from your room.
Readers beware, while we do not seek to scare, our audience will be confronted with every type of subject matter that warrants a content warning. If you are looking for a tidy ending, do not hold your breath.
